New York Fashion Week 2016

Fall/Winter 2016 events took place February 11 to 18, 2016 at a variety of locations around New 

York City, including Skylight Moynihan, Skylight Clarkson, Chelsea Piers, MADE Studios, and 

showrooms around town.

NYFW is a semi-annual series of events (generally lasting 7–9 days) when international fashion 

collections are shown to buyers, the press and the general public. It is one of four major fashion 

weeks in the world, collectively known as the "Big 4," along with those in Paris, London and 

Milan.

Picking up from recent conversations about ensuring fashion is more inclusive, the trend continues 

with big names such as Amy Schumer supporting the movement and the fashion world opening up 

its doors to equality. 

We have seen models with Down’s Syndrome on the Catwalk, models who have lost hair from 

Cancer gracing promotional campaigns. All these models have indeed become role models 

inspiring others who may be facing the same predicaments to not shy away from who they are. 

Giving the power back to the people instead of the fashion gurus all the time. Now fashion designers 

are responding to the younger generation and showing their collections that are available for 

immediate purchase.

Changing for the better by keeping up with the times. This is because those who really love fashion, want the option to buy what they like as soon as they see the photos of the clothes online. No one likes to wait, even if it makes things better. 

This is especially true about the younger generation. They definitely don’t like to wait and when they see something they like, they want it now, not later. Here are some trends we got to see at Fashion Week 2016.
