VBL: surf on our turf

Summer's last hurrah is going out in a blaze this year. Amidst the blistering sizzling heat we are feeling like land locked rock lobsters.

If wishes were fishes. . . .

Rather than bemoan our frying lot, let's celebrate this summer sizzle out in nature - camping and hiking or with backyard picnics and luau feasts instead.

Luau spread at 188 Galerie

The lūʻau was first created in 1819, when King Kamehameha II performed a symbolic act by eating with the women, thus ending the Hawaiian religious taboo of genders eating separately.

We've been partying together ever since!

Picnic parties and backyard barbecues are doubly enjoyable when the sun is shining and a fresh summer breeze gently cools our days.

It's a time of feasting and celebration with friends and family.

Summers by the beach, soaking up sunshine and indulging in seafood festivals are treats we all look forward to.

As soon as the weather warms and the days grow longer, we are all off the turf and into the surf, baby!

Dreamy tropical delights, real or vicarious, come in a riot of colors and tastes, textures and cultures. All so fun! fun! fun!

Be sure to drop by 188 Galerie and grab some specials before the season ends.

Paper, platters, patterns - all in these delightful seafood themes to perk up any party.

Look! This summer we have an extra treat - this rare blue lobster was caught off Cape Cod only a few days ago.
