In our last blog we mentioned Summer
Streets, the annual New York City program that lets pedestrians and
cyclists takeover major city streets – mostly from Park to Lafayette.
Nearly seven miles of city streets from Central Park to the Brooklyn
Bridge are closed to vehicles for three Saturdays in August.
Each year 188 Galerie gets front row viewing on the corner of
Broome and Lafayette.
This year, a 270-foot water slide was set up down the road at Foley Square, courtesy of
Slide the City
and major sponsor Vita
Coco.
Walking over from our place was a sensory delight.
Families and friends were out in full force.
Fitness buffs and passersby could jump right in and get all wild and
sweaty.
Even the streets were all dolled up in colorful street art.
Long lines formed to get on the popular zip line.
The main attraction though centered in and around Foley Square – at least
from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on August 1, 8 and 15.
So if you missed the past two spectacular Saturdays there’s still one
last chance to catch it this August 15.
Join in and get wet and wild this summer – as only NYC knows how to
give it to you!
